Chapter 10: Potential Problems in Disciple Making
I. How to destroy your ministry before it begins
1—Boldly declaring the strategy right from the start instead of showing it by example
2—Inviting everyone you can find to be involved instead of choosing faithful individuals
3—Forgetting to build a relationship before presenting the concept
4—Being hostile toward those who disagree
5—Trying to change things suddenly rather than slowly
II. How to abuse your ministry after it has begun
1—Seeing disciple making as a means to improving your existing ministries
2—Being possessive with people
3—Failing to give people freedom to do it or not do it
4—Trying to do it alone
5—Comparing yourself to others
6—Just talking about the concept without actually practicing it
7—Excessively criticizing church/organized ministry
8—Valuing disciple making above Jesus Himself
9—Not having a vision for the whole world
10—Seeing yourself as the “cure for Christianity”
11—Thinking you have it all figured out
12—Making the process academic and not active
13—Reducing the standard (most dangerous one)
